Samuel Dedetoku, better known by his stage name Sam Dede, is a Nigerian veteran actor, director, politician, and educator.
He is another veteran who was born on November 17, 1965. He is recognized as one of Nigeria’s wealthiest and most powerful figures.
Over the course of his 20-year career, he has appeared in over 350 films, primarily in supporting roles.

Early Life
Sam Dede was born and raised in Lagos, where he went to primary and high school. He then went on to the University of Port Harcourt in River State, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts.
Dede returned to the University of Port Harcourt after completing his National Youth Service (NYSC) and earning a master’s degree in theatre arts.
Education
Sam Dede attended the Government Comprehensive Secondary School for his primary and secondary studies. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Port Harcourt after finishing his primary and secondary school.
On his return from the National Youth Service Corps, he also earned his Master’s degree at the University of Port Harcourt. During his time as an undergraduate, he also appeared in stage plays and television soap operas.
Career
Sam Dede began his career in Nollywood in 1995 and rose to notoriety thanks to his participation in the film, Ijele. For his role in the 2004 film, The Mayors, he earned the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 2005.
For his lifetime achievements and services to Nigerian filmmaking, he received the SVAFF 2014 Special Recognition Award. For his role in the 2017 film, In My Country, he was nominated for the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in 2018.
In 2012, Sam Dede was named Director-General of the Rivers State Tourism Development Agency, a job he held for only a few months.
He has received numerous film prizes and accolades both in Nigeria and overseas.
